Then, we worked on our form. He told me that I hold my arms up to high and need to bring them down. I have been trying to bring them down but it's hard to change something once your used to running a certain way. After we worked a lot more on form we worked on running straight. He had us pick a line and try to stay right on it. It was a lot harder than it sounds! Then he had us pick a line on a curve and run. That was very difficult for me! He said that this would help us on passing people on a turn. After that we did ab's and some leg work outs. Then we all cooled down and stretched. It was a very fun practice, but a little challenging. I hope tomorrow is just as fun!

The perfect running day

Today was the perfect day for a run! We talked almost the whole time!! It was alot of fun. When we got back to the track we stretched and got some water. Then Coach Art told us we had four 150's. These are easy sprints to help us with our finish. After we were done doing the 150's we cooled down and did 50 sit ups. I was so exited today because my friend Bailey came to track with me! I love when she comes to track with me! It gives us a chance to hang out together. Tomorrow Is Wednesday so I will be doing a long run, as usual! I will be doing at least 3 miles tomorrow! :)

Pretty easy practice tonight

Tonight was a pretty easy practice, we started of with one lap around the campus which is 2 miles. Then we got paired up with another person to do an 800 with them. It was odd how we did them though, someone ran in front of the other person for one lap then they switched spots and the other person ran in front. We did this 3 times. Then I did 3 laps around the small football feild by the track as a cool-down with Harrison. So overall it wasn't very hard. There is no telling what we will do tomorrow, Coach Art is a very unpredictable guy!

Not the best day for running

I was expecting track practice to be a little chilly since it was at 10:00 a.m, but when I stepped outside it was very cold and on top of that it was misting! I thought I was going to be miserable, but luckily my dad let me use his jacket. I did 4 miles with my friend Harrison around nelson park. It was very cold the first two miles but then we warmed up. It was perfect weather once we got going. I forgot to start my watch so I don't have my time for the first 2 miles but the last 2 miles I ran in 14.05. After everyone was done we did an arm workout then stretched. I am so glad practice was over when it was because just as we were leaving It started raining pretty hard. My dad ran 10 miles today! Man, hes a beast!!!! :)

Why I started a blog

Hey I'm Aspen!!! I started this blog to talk about running, because I love to run!! I don't think I have ever enjoyed something more in my life! Running is my complete passion. I run almost every day at a track club called Cool Runnings. The second picture down on the Cool Runnings website is me with my friend Harrison after we both got first in the district cross country meet. The top picture is pretty much the whole team including some of the home school kids that come to the track club. This track team is coached by Coach Art. He is such an amazing guy with so much knowledge. He has helped me so much with my running! I am so lucky to have him as a coach. Some days are harder than others but in the end I know that every day has helped get me where I am today which is at a 6.02 mile hoping to break 6 minutes! I know with the help from Coach Art and my Dad I will get there one day. My Dad is also an amazing man, he runs marathons! He is so talented, he has taught me so much in life! He is part of the reason I got into running! :) I thank God every day that I have these two great guys in my life to help me along the way!!
